Four or five if you want to take your time, which the town deserves.<\/p>\n    <h3>Should you stay on the peninsula?<\/h3><p>It is the obvious choice: everything is on foot, the monks' alms round passes below your window at dawn, and the temples are minutes away. In exchange, the peninsula is livelier in the evening and rates are higher. Out of town you gain quiet, a garden and often a pool, for ten minutes in a tuk-tuk.<\/p>\n    <h3>When is the best time to go?<\/h3><p>October to April, for the dry season. November and December give the finest light. Be aware of March and April, when agricultural burning can haze the skies across the region for several weeks.<\/p>\n    <h3>How do you get to Luang Prabang?<\/h3><p>The high-speed train takes about 2 hours from Vientiane and 1 hour from Vang Vieng. The airport receives flights from Bangkok, Hanoi, Siem Reap and Chiang Mai.
