A word from the founder
No doubt it is a desire to get away that has brought you to us. For more than 25 years, our commitment has been to make remote places accessible, and to encourage encounters with local people to experience authenticity. A way of travelling as a couple or as a family, allowing you to immerse yourself in the country’s human and geographical reality without disrupting it. With more than 60 different ethnic groups, Laos is a vast human mosaic brought together around a life-giving river. A unique country in Southeast Asia.
I hope you will enjoy following us!
– Jean Paul Duvergé.

OUR SUGGESTIONS FOR A TRIP TO LAOS
To each their own journey. Welcome to the world of tailor-made travel!
Do not miss the charms of the city of Luang Prabang. It is at the heart of every trip to Laos, with its markets, caves, and sunset over Mount Phousi. The former royal capital is one of the must-sees. Designed to inspire you, our suggestions are fully customisable. In Northern Laos, trekking in Nong Khiaw or Muang La, you gain altitude, walk through rice fields and ethnic minority villages, and admire deep valleys. A whole world of traditions like nowhere else in Southeast Asia—an isolated world, linked to the Mekong by a day’s cruise on the Nam Ou. Whether on an excursion in the countryside around Vang Vieng or in the temples of Vientiane, the Lao capital, you will savour the country’s gentle way of life. In Southern Laos, enjoy 5-star archaeology at the Vat Phou temple, ecotourism on the Bolovens Plateau, where the Mekong flirts with Cambodia, and invitations to relax in the 4,000 Islands on Don Det, Don Khon, Don Khong, or on a cruise. Everything is possible in Southeast Asia, all the way to Angkor, a beach in Thailand on Koh Chang, Vietnam, Burma, and China’s Yunnan.
WHY TRAVEL TO LAOS?
At the far north of the Mekong Delta on this vast Indochinese peninsula, the kingdom of the “million elephants”, the smallest country in Southeast Asia, has managed to preserve its authenticity and sense of hospitality. Travel to Laos for its unspoilt nature, its mountains, villages, Akha, Hmong and Khamu ethnic groups, and for its colonial, cultural and Buddhist heritage in Luang Prabang. Whether you prefer Laos on its own or combined with Vietnam, China, Burma, Thailand or Cambodia, do not miss the must-do boat cruises on the Mekong and the small capital, Vientiane. Every traveller on the roads of Laos will experience the joy of off-the-beaten-track travel in contact with the local population.

ORGANISE YOUR STAY IN LAOS
In Laos, there are no “resorts”, but accommodation in typical charming hotels or nights with locals. Above all, do not miss the many festivals in Laos and the boat races deeply rooted in tradition. Here, there are no motorways, but the Mekong and many domestic and regional flights. After designing and booking all the services that make up your trip to Laos, Asia Safari, an inbound agency, will be waiting for you upon your arrival in Laos and Southeast Asia. It is up to you to book your international flight, take out cancellation/repatriation insurance, and obtain a visa. An adventure rich in discoveries (ethnic groups, landscapes). A breathtaking region, very welcoming people, and the end of the route in Luang Prabang to finish in style in this endearing and very special city, which invites contemplation and idleness. A superbly organised itinerary, with no downtime at all. An excellent guide. The only problem: we should have stayed a month longer!
Discovering a country full of authenticity. The culture shock is all the greater, but what a wonderful welcome from the different ethnic groups, villagers and shopkeepers. Luang Prabang is a pleasant city brimming with architectural treasures. The night market allows you to get close to the local people. Meeting the monks and the spiritual side really caught my attention. Southern Laos charmed us with the Vat Phou temple, a first taste of the rest of the journey towards Cambodia before the Khong islands… magnificent vegetation and meeting the local people is a truly grand experience!
A magnificent trip to Laos. Authentic and splendid landscapes. The Lao people are truly charming and very welcoming.
Back from our Laos then Cambodia trip, I wanted to express my total satisfaction with the services provided by your organisation. The choice of hotels and the services were perfect; the activities varied, enjoyable and well balanced. Our driver was careful, pleasant, and very attentive and caring towards our youngest participant, Tom, aged 4! Finally, our guide Vilat delighted us with his comments and explanations and also proved smiling, friendly, attentive and caring at all times. They accompanied us right up to our entry into Cambodian territory and until the final goodbye—everything was pure happiness! So congratulations to them, congratulations to you; I will not hesitate to recommend your services.
A magnificent tour with an exceptional guide, very humane and highly professional. We can only recommend this trip.
A remarkably well-organised trip, alternating transfers, highlights, and cultural and physical activities.
The good work of our two guides, Lathry and Khek, greatly contributed to the success of this wonderful 10-day trip to Laos. The organisation was impeccable; all transport and transfers were on time and in the best conditions. Congratulations to the whole team for the great work.
Everything was very good. Congratulations on the organisation of the trip (punctuality, comfort, kindness of the guides and transfers). Excellent services. Keep it up and thank you very much.

- Local French-speaking agency: we speak your language and know the country from the inside

How does our tailor-made service work?
1. You send us your request (dates, budget, desires, profile)

3. You refine it with us until the trip is perfect
4. We manage everything on site: guides, transport, hotels, activities
When to visit Laos?
The best period is October to April — dry season, pleasant temperatures. The rainy season (May to September) is also possible: lush landscapes and fewer tourists, but some roads can be difficult. Asia Safari advises you according to the region and type of trip.
Laos, the heart of your Indochina tour
Laos is often the surprise of a trip: uncrowded, authentic, with a quiet beauty. Asia Safari makes Laos much more than a stopover — we make it the central experience of your stay, before or after Vietnam, Cambodia, or Thailand.
Our most requested Indochina combinations
Laos + Cambodia: A classic — temples of Luang Prabang and Angkor Wat, Mekong and Tonlé Sap. 15 days minimum recommended.
Laos + Vietnam: Two contrasting countries — the calm of Laos and the energy of Vietnam. From Hanoi to Vientiane or vice versa.
Northern Laos + Yunnan: For travelers seeking originality — travel from Yunnan to Laos via the Laos-China railway (inaugurated 2021).
Grand Indochina Tour (40 days): Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand — a memorable trip for life.
Tips for preparing your multi-country tour
Visas: each country has its own rules — Asia Safari guides you through all procedures.
Ideal duration: allow a minimum of 12 to 15 days for a 2-country combination.
Seasons: seasons vary by country — we help you choose the best window.
Budget: prices vary greatly by country. Laos is cheaper than Vietnam or Thailand.
Our Story
Jean-Paul Duvergé arrived in Laos at the turn of the 2000s, fell in love with the country, and decided to stay. In 2002, he founded Asia Safari with a simple idea: to offer French-speaking travelers direct access to authentic Lao life, without the filter of large Parisian agencies. Since then, the agency has assisted thousands of travelers, built a network of trusted guides and partners, and refined its philosophy: rigorous tailor-made travel, serving authenticity.
What sets us apart
We are on site: Our team works from Vientiane. We know the roads, seasons, accommodations, guides — and what changed last week. No outdated brochures.
We speak your language: Asia Safari is a 100% French-speaking agency. All our communications, proposals, and guides speak French.
Zero intermediaries: You work directly with us. No central purchasing, no Parisian subcontractors. Fairer prices and higher service quality.
Tailor-made as our only model: We do not have standardized tours. Each trip is designed from scratch, according to your dates, budget, desires, and traveler profile.
Our commitment
Asia Safari actively supports responsible tourism in Laos: prioritizing local accommodations, tours that benefit village communities, respect for cultural and natural sites.
Laos in figures
Area: 236,800 km² | Population: approximately 7.5 million inhabitants | Capital: Vientiane | Official language: Lao | Religion: Theravada Buddhism (65% of the population) | Currency: Lao Kip (LAK) | Time zone: UTC+7
Laos must-sees
Luang Prabang: Former royal capital, a UNESCO World Heritage site, its golden temples, French colonial houses, and gentle way of life make it an undeniable favorite.
Vientiane: The human-sized capital — That Luang, Patuxai, and the banks of the Mekong are worth a visit.
Vang Vieng: Surrounded by limestone karsts, ideal for kayaking, caving, and hiking.
Southern Laos and 4000 Islands: Champassak, the Vat Phou temples (UNESCO), the Bolaven Plateau, and the Mekong islands.
Lao culture
Theravada Buddhism permeates all of Lao life. The alms giving (offerings to monks at dawn) in Luang Prabang is a daily ritual of great beauty. Lao festivals — Boun Pi Mai (Lao New Year in April), Boun Ok Phansa (Festival of Lights) — are exceptional times to travel.
Nature and biodiversity
Laos is 70% covered by forests. Its protected areas are home to rare species: Asian elephants, gibbons, sun bears. The rivers and plateaus offer natural settings of rare purity in Asia.
