What is the best time to visit Luang Prabang?
The dry season (November to March) is ideal: cool temperatures, clear skies, and bright landscapes. The Lao New Year (Boun Pi Mai, mid-April) is an exceptional festive period but very busy.
How to get to Luang Prabang from abroad?
There are no direct long-haul flights. Connections go through Bangkok, Hanoi, or Kuala Lumpur (12 to 18 hours total travel time). Asia Safari can advise you on the best options.

Welcome by your guide. Check-in at your hotel, ideally located on the Luang Prabang peninsula. At the end of the day, a short orientation tour aboard our “vintage” 4×4. Around the corner, a welcome surprise before leaving you to your evening. Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay at your hotel.

This beautiful day begins at dawn: the monks leave their temple and cross the city to collect offerings from villagers. A colorful and silent spectacle not to be missed!
With your guide and according to your wishes, you will visit the National Museum (former Royal Palace) and the main temples and pagodas. Lunch at your leisure.
Another unmissable appointment is Mount Phousi at sunset (300 steps). On your way down, stop at the night market set up at the foot of the stairs; it is the perfect opportunity to bring back local craft treasures. Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay at your hotel.

A day close to daily life, themed around rice, the staple food in Laos. Its production will no longer hold any secrets for you: grain selection, sowing, transplanting cuttings… right through to the harvest. After this fun experience, you will be invited to enjoy a picnic served at the foot of the magnificent Kuang Si waterfalls. A short hike is possible to discover the terraced cascades. Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay at your hotel.

Jean-Paul Duvergé has worked in Laos since 2000. In 2002, he founded Asia Safari in Vientiane to design tailor-made trips in Laos and Indochina. Today, the agency’s French-Lao team plans each itinerary with its travellers and coordinates arrangements on the ground with its local guides and partners.
