Sample Itinerary: 15-Day Laos Tour
Fifteen days in Laos is the ideal amount of time to cover the country’s major regions without rushing. Here is a sample itinerary that we can customize according to your preferences.
Days 1-2: Arrival in Vientiane
Arrival in the capital. Visit That Luang, Patuxai, Wat Sisaket, and the night market. First immersion in the Lao way of life.
Days 3-5: Vang Vieng
Drive to Vang Vieng amid the karsts. Tham Chang caves, kayaking on the Nam Song, cycling through surrounding villages. Overnight in a lodge with views of the limestone peaks.
Days 6-9: Luang Prabang
The heart of the journey. Almsgiving ceremony at sunrise, golden temples and pagodas, Kuang Si waterfalls, handicraft night market. Boat trip on the Mekong to the Pak Ou caves.
Days 10-11: Plain of Jars
Flight to Phonsavan. Visit the megalithic jar sites, rolling hill landscapes, encounters with Hmong communities.
Days 12-14: Southern Laos — Champassak and 4,000 Islands
Flight or drive to Pakse. Khmer temple of Wat Phou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Boat trip to the Si Phan Don archipelago, the 4,000 Islands: hammocks, Irrawaddy dolphins, Khone Phapheng waterfalls.
Day 15: Return
Flight from Pakse or Vientiane. End of tour.
